January 2005 - Grand Union/Oxford Canal
(4 miles, 6 locks, 3 engine hours)
We were joined today by friends
Lyn & Paul. Last year they took their boat down the French canal system
and out into the Med - well, they have got a yacht!
A full tour of
Per Angusta was the first order of the day - with some comparisons between
yacht and narrowboat systems. Once we had topped up on tea and biscuits,
it was off out of the marina and up through the locks. We cruised up to
WiIgram's Turn and onto the Oxford. We went as far as Bridge 111, turned
and then moored up for lunch.
Lunch was a leisurely
affair with plenty of good conversation. A sedate cruise back to the marina
and we tied up in time for tea. Being mid-January we didn't have that
long a day, plus Paul & Lyn had a distance to drive home.
